Hi again! I’d like to tell you a little bit more about myself and the reason for this blog in this section.
My name is Jens Maandag. Born in The Netherlands in 1995. Growing up sports and outdoor activities have always been a big part of my life. Every vacation we’d be out on our sailboat, riding our horses or enjoy the beaches.
I’ve graduated university with a bachelor in sports and event-management. Hoping I could combine two passions: Travelling and sports.
After graduating I immediately moved to the Caribbean to teach windsurfing for a year and enjoying the warm climate.
I came back to The Netherlands with a lot of new plans to travel, I picked up bartending to earn some money and to be able to work everywhere. After managing a new bar post-covid I felt it was time for change.
Mom and dad had been on various bike-packing trips and the thought of endless roads and camping kept longing. I packed my dad’s bike and starting cycling through France with the goal to reach Saint Mary de la Mer. A new love was born.
Meanwhile I’ve also cycled the Carratera Austral in Chile, completed the European Divide Trail as 34th and rode across South-East Asia.
Upcoming trips include off-roading in Eastern Europe and a cross continent trip in South America.
This blog will be the place for roadside thoughts, tips, stories and photos.
Happy cycling!
